darkness

At YLI's TEAM conference this past week we heard a message on light and darkness. The speaker talked about being scared at night and how we think there might be someone in the room with us when we can't see anything.

I was thinking about this...I find it interesting that we always imagine someone scary is in there with us--we never imagine that when we turn on the lights we will see our fairy godmother waiting to grant us any wish we may have; it's always someone standing over us with a knife or something. hmm...thoughts anyone?

well, the interesting thing is that a lot of people imagine clowns, who bear the enigma of being good and scary. they would be scary to wake up to, but good to see at a street fair. just depends on the context of where and when you see them.

Clowns lost their appeal after that Stephen King book/movie. They're just downright scary out of context.

I agree with Tim on the whole waking up to clowns thing.

But I would add that the reason we project bad things into the darkness is due to the shame we have in our hearts...because we know what we were thinking or doing when no one else was watching.

And thus, the peril of humanity in a statement.

Praise the Lord that Jesus has come to cast light into the darkness!

I quote the great philosopher:
"What are you attacking? There's nothing there!"
"Ummm...I attack the darkness!"
