Jesus told the Pharisees, "But you do not believe because you are not my sheep" (John 10:26). Notice carefully Jesus' words. He did not say, "You aren't my sheep because you don't believe!" He said, "You don't believe because you are not my sheep." In other words, believers were already Jesus' sheep prior to salvation. Belonging to the sheep isn't dependent on believing; rather, believing in Jesus is dependent on whether you were already His sheep."
